Obviously, the tourism sector in Egypt flourished in the year 2007, as number of tourists hit some 10 million, a matter that mirrors the sincere efforts being exerted to boost the sector which is deemed to be one of the main sources of national income.

In December 2007, the World Travel Awards held an international celebration in the Caribbean islands and granted Sharm el-Sheikh city the award of the best diving city in the world. 167 thousands from tourism expertise and officials from 160 countries participated in the competition voting.
EgyptAir, Egypt's national carrier, in 2007 was set for network expansion in Star Alliance, the world's biggest coalition airlines. Of the great tourist events Egypt witnessed in the year 2007 was the holding of the 16th Arabian Horse Festival in Sharkeya Governorate that was held on September 5-8, and took place over some 25,000 square meters in the Belbis Desert 30 km away from Cairo. Taking part in the event were 7 countries; Egypt, France, Germany, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
The Festival took the international tang, as it was organized by the National Sports Council together with the Arab Equestrian Union and the World Arabian Horse Organization. Taking part in the event were hundreds of Arabian thoroughbreds. 200 competitors also sought to win 6 major events, including Horse Behavior, Horse Aesthetics (registered or unregistered), and the Masters Obstacle Jumping Championship, the Open Obstacle Jumping Championship and the Youth Obstacle Jumping Championship.
