Mubarak, Medvedev discuss developments in Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon and Gulf
President Hosni Mubarak and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev held a session of talks in the presidential headquarters in Egypt following the arrival of Russian President to Cairo. The two leaders discussed the key regional and international issues of joint interest for Egypt and Russia topped by developments in the Middle East, positions in Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon and Gulf. They also discussed means of strengthening bilateral relation in all fields. During the joint press conference between the two leaders, President Mubarak said that the Egyptian-Russian summit dealt with the whole regional position, relations between the two countries and issues of joint interest. Mubarak also confirmed Egypt's support to the Moscow peace conference noting that Egypt wants a greater role for the European Union in the peace Process. For his part, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev stressed that viewpoints between Egypt and Russia are identical concerning many issues topped by ME issues. He expressed hope to enhance cooperation between the two countries. As for our bilateral relations, President Mubarak pointed out that he signed today with President Dmitry Medvedev an agreement on upgrading the strategic partnership level, a step that reflects joint keenness on consolidating consultation and coordination between us at the political level, boosting the existing bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, trade, energy, transport, environment, anti-drugs and other domains of priority.
Mubarak discusses with President Mahmoud Abass Palestinian situation
Mubarak
received a phone call from the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abass. Through
the call, the two Presidents discussed the recent developments on the
Palestinian issue, Egypt's attempts to reach National Palestinian
reconciliation and the efforts to be exerted to push peace process forward.
Egyptian antiquities exhibition to tour three US cities
Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Zahi Hawwas opens the Egyptian antiquities exhibition which will move from Dallas Museum of Art in Texas to the M.H. De Young Memorial Museum in San Francisco, California. The exhibition is touring three US cities under the rubric " the Golden Age of the Paharaohs". The tour started on October 15,2008 and will last till January 2011. Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni said some 250 antiques from the golden age of the Pharaonic civilization including pieces belonging to Tutankhamen are displayed in the exhibition. He expected the revenues of the exhibition to hit US $ 30 million.
Health Ministry: New swine flu case confirmed in Egypt, bringing total number of infections to 40
A new case of the (H1N1) virus, commonly known as swine flu, has been detected in Egypt, bringing the total number of those infected in the country to 40. The new case is of a 13-year-old Egyptian girl who came from the United States on June 20 and was taken to a hospital in Al-Gharbia governorate after coming down with the flu on Sunday 21/06/2009, the Health Ministry's official spokesman Abdel-Rahman Shahin said Monday 22/06/2009. On his part, Minister of Health Dr. Hatem Al-Gabali said Egypt is free from the plague
