1-Obama's visit to Egypt aims to refute Clash of Civilizations theory
Moustafa el-Fiqi, the Chairman of the People's Assembly Foreign Relations Committee, said US President Barack Obama's visit to Egypt early next month aims at pursuing dialogue between the East and West and show the falseness of the Clash of Civilizations theory. Fiqi said in press statements that choosing Egypt as a venue to address the Muslim world is a proof of Egypt's high standing in the international arena. The Muslim world has to admit that it is facing problems in Afghanistan, Palestine, Iraq, Somalia and Sudan, and that require reconsidering policies toward resolving them. Obama's address will tackle such problems, he added. Fiqi dismissed claims that the government will interfere regarding meetings Obama will hold with opposition leaders, saying that the government is committed to diplomatic rules governing the visit as part of international norms.
