Egyptian, Italian summit in Sharm el-Sheikh
An Egyptian-Italian summit will be held in Sharm el-Sheikh on May 12/2009 between President Mubarak and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. The summit will address the progress of peace process and bilateral cooperation. This summit will be the second one to be held within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries. the first summit was held in Rome in June 2008.

Abul Gheit welcomed holding the Durban II Conference on anti-racism
In press statements, he noted that such an important conference furnishes
the participants with an opportunity to review the success of Durban I
conference since its convocation in 2001
Although the international community has taken several steps towards
fighting racial discrimination, yet there are still several aspects of the
phenomenon that should be addressed, he noted. Meantime, he expressed
satisfaction over the final document of the conference that is condemning
all forms of racial discrimination and recommendations for combating
xenophobia in different parts of the world. Moreover, he commended the
document for denouncing discrimination against Muslim and Arab minorities.
The document, he added, is confirming the principle of banning inciting
hatred on basis of religion, race or gender.
Egypt confirms resuming efforts for reconciling between Fatah, Hamas
Foreign Ministry Spokesman said that Egypt will resume its efforts for reconciling between Fatah and Hamas movements. He said that we will continue our efforts with all the Palestinian factions to make the Palestinian dialogue succeed in spite of the difficulty of the sticking points which were not solved yet. The Spokesman added that we should not forget that any inflexibility from the side of the Palestinians will result in negative and harmful effect on the Palestinian situation in general.
